Step 1 of 8 — Download

Download the Extension ZIP

Solvo is distributed as a .zip file. Click the button below to download the latest version directly.

Tip: Save the file somewhere easy to find — like your Desktop or Downloads folder. You'll need it in the next step.

Step 2 of 8 — Extract

Extract (Unzip) the File

You need to unzip the downloaded file to get a folder with the extension files inside. Chrome can't read .zip files directly — you must extract it first.

  1. Open File Explorer and go to your Downloads folder
  2. Find the file solvo-v1.5.0.zip
  3. Right-click on it → select "Extract All…"
  4. Pick a location (Desktop is great) → click "Extract"
  5. A folder named solvo-v1.5.0 will appear — that's your extension!

💡 Alternatively: select the ZIP → look for "Extract All" in the top toolbar ribbon.

  1. Open Finder → go to Downloads
  2. Find the file solvo-v1.5.0.zip
  3. Double-click the zip — macOS extracts it automatically
  4. A folder named solvo-v1.5.0 will appear right next to the zip
  5. Move it somewhere permanent if you like (Desktop, Documents, etc.)
  1. Open your file manager and navigate to the download location
  2. Find solvo-v1.5.0.zip
  3. Right-click → "Extract Here"
  4. Or in terminal: unzip solvo-v1.5.0.zip
  5. A folder solvo-v1.5.0 will be created

Don't delete or move this folder later! Chrome loads the extension directly from it. If you delete/move it, the extension will break. Keep it in a safe permanent spot.

Step 3 of 8 — Extensions Page

Open the Extensions Page

Now you need to open your browser's extension management page. This is where you'll load Solvo.

Step-by-step:

  1. Open a new tab in your browser
  2. Click on the address bar at the very top (where URLs go)
  3. Type chrome://extensions exactly as shown
  4. Press Enter
  5. You should see the Extensions management page with a list of your installed extensions

Alternative method: Click the three dots menu (⋮) in the top-right → Extensions → Manage Extensions

Important: Type it in the address bar, not the Google search box. It must start with chrome:// — if you type it in Google, it won't work.

Step 4 of 8 — Developer Mode

Enable Developer Mode

By default, browsers only allow extensions from the official store. To install Solvo (which isn't on the Chrome Web Store), you need to turn on Developer mode. Don't worry — it's completely safe!

Find this toggle → Turn it ON (top-right corner of the page)

Here's exactly what to do:

  1. On the extensions page (from Step 3), look at the top-right corner
  2. You'll see a toggle switch labelled "Developer mode"
  3. Click the toggle to turn it ON — it will slide right and turn blue/purple
  4. When enabled, three new buttons will appear at the top of the page:
  • "Load unpacked" — this is the one we need (next step!)
  • "Pack extension" — you can ignore this
  • "Update" — for updating extensions manually

Why is this safe? Developer mode is Chrome's built-in feature that lets developers test extensions. It doesn't compromise your browser security. Millions of developers use this daily. You can turn it off later if you want, but the extension will stop working.

Chrome may show a popup saying "Disable developer mode extensions" when you restart your browser — just click "Cancel" or "Keep" to dismiss it. This is normal.

Step 5 of 8 — Load Extension

Load the Extension

This is the exciting part — actually installing Solvo into your browser!

Load unpacked
Click this button (top-left corner of extensions page)

Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Click the "Load unpacked" button in the top-left corner (it appeared after enabling Developer mode)
  2. A folder picker window will pop up
  3. Navigate to where you extracted the ZIP file in Step 2
  4. Click on the solvo-v1.5.0 folder to select it
  5. Click "Select Folder" (Windows) or "Open" (Mac/Linux)
  6. Solvo should now appear in your extensions list with a purple icon! ✅

Getting an error? Make sure you're selecting the folder that contains manifest.json — not the .zip file, not an empty folder, and not a parent folder. The correct folder usually has files like manifest.json, background.js, etc. inside it.

Step 6 of 8 — Setup

Set Up Solvo

Solvo is now installed! When you first click the Solvo icon, you'll see an onboarding screen to configure your AI provider.

How to configure:

  1. Click the Solvo icon in your toolbar (or puzzle icon 🧩 → Solvo)
  2. The onboarding popup appears — choose an AI provider:
    • Free AI (Pollinations) — works instantly, no signup, no API key. Great for getting started!
    • Google Gemini — excellent accuracy, has a free tier. Needs an API key (Solvo shows you how to get one)
    • Groq — ultra-fast responses, free tier available
    • OpenRouter / Together AI — more model choices
  3. If picking a provider that needs an API key → paste your key in the input field
  4. Click "Get Started"

Change settings anytime: Click the Solvo icon → tap the gear icon ⚙️ to open the full settings page. There you can switch providers, change models, set rate limits, and more.

100% Private: All settings and API keys are stored locally on your device only. Solvo never sends your keys to any external server. Zero tracking, zero data collection — ever.

Step 7 of 8 — Pin Extension

Pin Solvo to Your Toolbar

Pin the extension so you can access Solvo with one click — always visible right in your browser toolbar.

How to pin:

  1. Look at the top-right of your browser toolbar
  2. Click the puzzle piece icon 🧩 (Extensions menu)
  3. A dropdown shows all your installed extensions
  4. Find "Solvo" in the list
  5. Click the pin icon 📌 next to it — it turns blue when pinned
  6. The Solvo icon now appears permanently in your toolbar!

How to use Solvo: Open any Google Form → click the Solvo icon in your toolbar → hit "Solve". Solvo reads all the questions, sends them to AI, and fills in the answers automatically. It's that easy!
